02Industrial Surface Coating
Eleven stages before a single gram of powder
Powder fails at the interface, not the surface. Thimark's line runs a full 11-stage pre-treatment sequence so the conversion coat underneath is doing the work.
Sample copyThis service is not yet described in Thimark’s corporate profile. Dip sequence, rack envelope, film thickness and stock colours on this page are plausible defaults. Replace them with the line’s real specification before publishing.
0111-Dip Pre-Treatment
The sequence a part travels
Degrease, derust, condition, phosphate, passivate, rinse to demineralised water, then dry, before the part is allowed anywhere near the booth.
- 01
Degreasing
Alkaline bath lifts oils, drawing compound and shop soil.
- 02
Rinse
Fresh-water rinse to arrest carry-over between chemistries.
- 03
Derusting
Acid pickle removes mill scale and flash rust.
- 04
Rinse
Second rinse stage; bath conductivity monitored.
- 05
Surface Conditioning
Refines crystal size ahead of phosphating.
- 06
Zinc Phosphating
Builds the conversion coat that anchors the powder.
- 07
Rinse
Removes unreacted phosphate salts.
- 08
Passivation
Seals the phosphate layer, raising corrosion resistance.
- 09
DM Water Rinse
Demineralised final rinse, no dissolved solids left behind.
- 10
Dry-Off Oven
Moisture driven off before the parts reach the booth.
- 11
Powder Application & Cure
Electrostatic spray, then cured to the powder's schedule.
Why eleven
Each rinse stage exists to stop the previous chemistry contaminating the next bath. Skip them and the phosphate layer goes patchy, which is where filiform corrosion starts.
Film thickness
60–100 µm typical, verified by gauge. Checked with a gauge on every batch and recorded against the job.
Cure
Electrostatic application, then cured to the powder manufacturer's own schedule, not to a house average.

03Job Work Enquiry
Size your batch
Tell the line what's coming and it will tell you how much surface area that is, how many rack batches it fills, and roughly how long it occupies the oven.
